About

Welcome to my world on The Other Side 🙂 …my little corner of cyberspace where I write about my experiences and thoughts on Witchcraft, Pagan Spirituality, the Paranormal, Autism, Asperger’s Syndrome and sometimes the interconnectedness of these topics, as well as my day-to-day family stuff here in Sydney, Australia.

A little about me…

In a previous life I was a Zoologist; I received my Bachelor of Science (Zoology) from the University of NSW (Australia) then worked as a Technical Officer in the RPHH Animal Breeding Unit, followed by the UNSW School of Zoology, primarily in the fields of palaeozoology, zoogeography and animal behaviour. Since the birth of my first son I’ve been a stay-at-home-mum, and now have 4 wonderful sons,  two of whom have been diagnosed with mild Asperger’s Syndrome, while the other two have a lot of Aspie traits, one more so than the other, but have not been assessed. I now realise that I too most likely have Asperger’s Syndrome — it explains so much about my life experiences. Sooo… I’m a self-diagnosed Aspie. My wonderful husband’s pretty special too …he’s an engineer afterall, LOL. (Love that Dilbert cartoon!)

I often felt my viewpoint was on “the other side” in a lot of situations – I never really felt like I fitted in anywhere …but, more about that later …maybe. Hence the name of this blog, which also has a second meaning alluding to my interest in the paranormal. 😀 Dunno really what I’m doing here but I suppose something will develop – whether anybody reads my ramblings or not, LOL.

My interest in Paganism and all things Psychic/Paranormal…

I also happen to be a witch and a member of and website manager for a Pagan group, called Spheres Of Light (SOL), in Sydney Australia, and I thought this would be a good place to tell you a bit about our group, as well as post updates and info about our activities and events… So, check out my posts and if you see anything that interests you, please follow the links to our website to find out more.

Just in case you’re wondering, my fascination with the occult, paranormal and religion in general developed during my childhood and in later years I explored areas such as psychic development, astrology, crystal healing, herbs, Reiki, and other alternative healing methods. All this eventually led to my exploration of Witchcraft and the realisation that it encompassed all of my interests, including satisfying my spiritual needs. 😀

…and Autism and Asperger’s Syndrome

In addition to my interests in Witchcraft and Paganism I also have a desire to help promote awareness, understanding and acceptance of people with Asperger’s Syndrome (sometimes referred to as “high functioning” autism), so some of my pages and blogs are devoted to information about this “way of being”, including some that touch on a unique combination of Asperger’s/Autism, Paganism, the Paranormal and their interconnections.

As for the rest of this blog …well, um… anything goes I guess. 😕
